Thrips Predator - Free Shipping
This very small, tan colored predatory mite moves quickly to capture its prey, which is the egg and larval stages of various thrips species. Thrips Predators (
Amblyseius cucumeris) also eat spider mites, other harmful mites, honeydew and pollen. The predators come as either 10,000 or 50,000 predatory mites of all stages mixed with bran. Adult
A. cucumeris actively search for their prey and suck them dry. Adults suck dry and destroy 2 - 3 thrips larvae per day. Females lay 2 - 3 eggs per day on the undersides of leaves on the fine leaf hairs. Tiny nymphs soon hatch and begin feeding on pollen, pest eggs and the smallest thrips. The adults and mobile stages are beige-pink, droplet shaped, with a "pushed down" position on short legs. They are often at hidden places such as along veins and in the flowers. The eggs are transparent white, attached to leaf hairs along veins on the underside of leaves. Even after thrips have been eliminated, the predators remain established in the greenhouse, feeding on pollen and spider mites.
